?? Conifers & cocktails??
.
Do you know your spruce from your pine? Your larch from your firs?
.
As part of @wildfoodlove’s IGTV series on #whatforagersdo during #coronavirus #covid19 #lockdown, I went for a wander during my permitted daily exercise allowance over here in the UK to explore the differences & ID points for a few different edible conifers & enjoyed a cheeky wild cocktail made with larch, pine, fir & cypress to inspire you to play with these flavours near you! Cocktail recipe on my instagram feed too ?
.
IGTV is 10 minutes max, so this is a very quick whizz-through of a few key conifer species, and also I’ll be posting a longer version with greater detail on the ID points & ideas for what you can do with each edible or usable part of these beautiful trees so do look out for that if you’d like a bit more depth than I could cram into this Instagram edit ?
.
Happy foraging, stay safe, we’ll get through this strange time ?
.
I live in a reasonably large city in Yorkshire, northern England, yet within a short journey from my home I can be within woods & green spaces that can make me feel like I’m much further away, I’m blessed that I’m able to go out & get my forest fix ?
.
It seems the picture quality is better on Insta by the way… so if you’re on IG, watch it over there instead maybe…?
