Saw this tiny birds nest clearly visible from a busy path (1m to my right) because it seems someone (or maybe a dog) had recently ploughed through/into the tall wild garlic and unintentionally exposed the nest’s location (along with its tiny precious pink content!).
*I didn’t touch the nest* before anyone gets upset… best policy is usually to leave wildlife alone as trying to ‘help’ often doesn’t… I just tried to unflatten some of the garlic in front of it and drape some briars back over the top to camouflage it again then hopefully it’ll be okay for them and no one will notice it.
Mummy bird was watching so they should be fine and I was as quick as possible so they won’t get too cold (it was her flying off in alarm as I passed by on the proper path that alerted me to the now-very-obviously-exposed nest…)
At first I thought it had fallen from the trees but it was carefully wound around the brambles so seems it’s always been down there it just suddenly got revealed, and only in the last few hours from the fresh look of the track in the wild garlic.
Maybe the stems’ll perk back up with some rain, and keep them hidden ’til they fledge, fingers crossed. I’m sure they’ll all be okay, I might go back and have a look later on… poor pink little mites! ? (There is sound)
