These are the most humungous chestnuts I’ve ever seen! The normal chestnuts covering the hills surroinding my aunt’s village here in the south of France are about a month off being ripe from the looks of them, but this one tree was special. It’s probably a cultivated variety that makes ridiculously huge nuts and fruits earlier. Gorgeous things! Going to score the ends and roast them to enjoy with my coffee for breakfast when I home to Leeds. I may also attempt marrons glacés if it’s not to complicated to achieve. Can’t wait!
