I had my best-yet spooting haul on Thursday night and Friday morning, catching the two super-low tides giving me nearly 2 hours each time where the razor beds were exposed

This happens only a few times a year, so it’s wiry the 2-hour trip to the west coast to get this amazing, sweet and delicious wild food

I treated my coastal foraging course group to spoot & chorizo canapés on Saturday having purged the spoots on Friday night, along with the cockles and tellin clams which I cooked up in a tasty chowder for the group too

I think it’s a scandal that these beautiful shellfish are more often caught for fishing bait than the table… they are succulent, sweet and not at all ‘fishy’ to the taste, I love them!
